These reinforced concrete pipes (culverts) were supplied by Humes of Welshpool, Western Australia. Their driver went to a lot of trouble to position the pipes correctly. I had previously dug a shallow trench in which to place the pipes. The purpose of the trench is to stop the pipes from rolling down the hill. In a bushfire, such as Black Saturday, most of the victims were killed by the immense radiated heat. The concrete is thick enough to prevent the radiated heat from affecting you.
